Help Us Keep Your Skin Safe

Your healthcare team wants you to know about pressure injuries and how you can help us to stop them.

What is a pressure injury?

A pressure injury, sometimes called a bedsore, or pressure ulcer, is an injury to the skin caused by pressure. A pressure injury can happen when your skin presses against a surface, such as a mattress or a wheelchair, for too long. Harm to the skin often occurs over bony parts of your body.

These wounds start as a reddened part on the skin and can become a sore. These sores can lead to key health problems and even death.

What can raise my risk?
