Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen Dosage Chart

Use your child's most current weight to decide the right amount of medicine to give.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol and generic name brands) dosing information

Give every 4 hours as needed.  Do not give more than 5 times in 24 hours.

Children over 95 lbs may use 2 regular strength adult acetaminophen tablets. (1 tablet = 325 mg)

Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, and generic name brands) dosing information

Give every 6-8 hours as needed to children 6 months and older. Do not give to children who are under 6 months old. Do not give more than 4 times in 24 hours. Do not give for more than 3 days.

Children over 95 lbs may use 1 regular strength adult ibuprofen tablet or caplet every 4 to 6 hours. (1 tablet or caplet = 200 mg)

Do not give children Aspirin unless your doctor tells you it is okay.
